Benjamin Kaasa
Profile: In 1980, Ben was born in Winter Haven, Florida. He spent the first portion of his life exploring the school playgrounds at the Learning Tree and Scott Lake Elementary in Lakeland. In 1990, parental managment announced it was time to trade in the warm, humid weather and sandy beaches for the cold, snow and ice of the homeland: Minnesota. Ben completed high school at Technical High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota, before migrating north to Duluth for post-secondary eduation. During non-academic collegiate hours, Ben could be found at the local hockey rinks officiating youth hockey games to pay his way through college. It was also during college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth that he met his wife Caryn. With bachelor degrees in hand, Caryn and Ben set their sights west and moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota. When not busy battling the nasty, windy winters and attending college hockey games at the world's best hockey arena (Ralph Englestad Arena) and getting married, they earned their master's and juris doctor's degree. Now Ben resides with his wife, Caryn, and daughter, Meghann, in Frostbite.... err.... International Falls, Minnesota. Ben currently clerks for the District Court Judge in Koochiching County, Minnesota, and continues to officiate youth, high school and college hockey when not busy behind the bench.
